Scenes from Romeo and Juliet
In this project, we did the Romeo and Juliet play and I was Lady Capulet. In order to understand William Shakespeare, we annotated and split scenes to different groups. Then, we got our roles. Then we learned how to memorize lines and came back a week after with them memorized. Throughout the week, we did stage directions, guided by the director. Then, after we practiced enough, we got ready for exhibition.
Lady Capulet
Obedient, Demanding, Unmotherly, Unsympothetic
Lady Capulet was married into wealth. Forced by her mother and duty. She grew with a bland outlook in life, that love is nothing but a fantasy. As her duty called, she had to convince a baby at 14. Following her husbands orders, both more than happy to cross paths and ignore each doing. More like friends than partners, Lady Capulet adores her family member, Tybalt, and likes to stay in favor of the prince.
In my scene, Lady Capulet loves planning weddings. She is overjoyed that Juliet agreed to marry Paris and happy for once after her grieving of Tybalt. I showed that I am overjoyed that Juliet is agreeing to marry Paris. Then, I grieve, wail, scream, and cry for my lost long fake dead Juliet.
BEST LINE
"Accursed, unhappy, wretched, hateful day!
Most miserable hour that e'er time saw
In lasting labour of his pilgrimage!
But one, poor one, one poor and loving child,
But one thing to rejoice and solace in,
And cruel death hath catch'd it from my sight!"
This is when Lady Capulet finds that Juliet is dead. In this line she is saying that this day is the worst. Her only child is dead, and death has token her so young. I said this line choking on my grief, the sadness unbearable.

Reflection Of Romeo and Juliet
My favorite part of the exhibition was seeing everyone convey emotion on their own type of way. It thrills me to see people I don't know act upon the stage. What makes a good actor is that they have no problem or embarrassment to get out of their comfort zone. To play their characters no matter how absurd they might be. I tried to grief like a mother would lose her child. I tried to seem drained and in shock while crying with sadness. I wasn't afraid to yell, be loud, and be like a character I am not. Though I could have done better by popping my head up from my shoulders to say a line instead of hiding and saying my lines. If I practiced and learned how to test my memorization, I would probably be an actor. Though this field I believe is extremely competitive and unlikely to succeed. I know I have a calling, though acting isn't calling my name.
Compared to modern times, Juliet would have a phone or a mobile device hidden somewhere. Instead of acting out of grief and unknowingness. Friar Lawrence could have sent Romeo a text or something saying she would 'kill herself'. It just seems a bit unrealistic. Lady Capulet could have a choice and file a divorce. She would have power as women and men have equally. In relationships, it could be different today because women are looked upon the same as men. I think the relationship between Juliet and her parents would have been a bit more understanding. Overall, things can be complicated with hate and duty. But things aren't so old fashioned anymore.
