One that affects humanity and even in some cases their rights. Still keeping in mind that the rightful duty and purpose of the Model U.N is to maintain world peace and security as well as making peaceful relations among other nations. Students learned perspective skills because they not always got the country they desired whether the country closes it's borders or opens them wholeheartedly. They are faced with difficult situations as in why is the Syrian refugee crisis happening, and what should the rest of the world do about it?

Germany & Refugees
Conditions of the refugee crisis and the attitudes towards refugees within Germany
Change is happening drastically since Chancellor Angela Markel accepted high amount of refugees bringing a shock throughout Germany. Most are in favor of accepting high amounts of refugees into their home country others are frustrated and is not taking change easily. Germany is the leading European country taking in more refugees than its current neighbors. Many refugees are awaiting an accepted or declined application of refugee status that is overwhelming authorities and crowed tent cities or temporary housing.
My Personal Super Helpful Articles
These articles were useful because they have a similar topic, they all show effects of accepting refugees into Germany. There wasn't much articles to choose from or trust. I was searching for a non-biased and fact based journalism. I wanted to understand how it might be for my country I was representing and the refugees currently in it. They helped me equally in their own way and helped me present my current situation in my committee. I had to look for the most recent articles and best websites. I looked up "refugees in Germany" and chose wisely depending on publication date.
Most surprising information?
How low unemployment rate is, how high percentage of citizens of Germany complete high school, and Germany being the second world's largest beer consumer.

My Position Paper
Throughout the process of writing my position paper I started with long nights of reading article upon article with the wanting of understanding the situation my country was in. I wrote my paper according to the layout and recommendation. My paper below was a work in process and certainly imperfect in fact context. I am quite proud of the result and it helped my extremly with my opening statement.
Changes and Critique I have recieved:
My first draft
-Flawed but written well in organization, not scattered.
-Needed more factual evidence
-Unnecessary context that could be erased
My second draft
-Arranging sentences to places that make more sense
-MLA format (I used times new roman, double space which was a mistake)
-What actions the UN has done past/present
My third draft
-Write more about your country
-Smoother ending since it ended abruptly
The Most Helpful Pieces of Critique from my Committee?
I think that the country I was representing had an advantage because of it's donations towards other countries through the UN. If I didn't receive honest critique, I wouldn't have that pawn in protecting my country in the debate.
Another piece of critique that was extremely helpful was that I needed more factual evidence to support my claims. This came in handy when I needed to defend my alliances which were usually aligned with the United States.

My Opening Statement
My First Draft Vs. My Second Draft
I feel as though in my first draft I discussed much about Germany itself and less of a delegate searching for unity. I inflicted guilt to the defenseless and weak countries who seek a sponsor. I also reviewed much of my resolution which wasn't discussed in the conference until the very end. I received critique from my close friends Alexa, Ysa, and Starr. They agreed that I should talk less about my country.
What am I most proud of in my opening statement?
I am proud of having a compelling opening statement enough for my chair to compliment me on it. If there was an award for best opening statement I would surely win!

Reflection & Analysis
Personally I am proud of being able to talk fiercely and passionately through my voice but shake violently on the outside without my crowd noticing. I made a strong first impression by standing my ground which did surprise many. As a committee everyone talked at least twice which can be difficult to achieve for others. We continued to debate and blend into the country we were to role play as. We were one of the last to end the debate and come to a resolution. If I can go back in time and become a member of committee three again I would stop inflicting tension between my axis. United Nations is meant to compromise and achieve not turn against each other once again. Next years students who do this should be sure to understand the assembly's professional language.
